Advantages of Printing with PA-CF
PA-CF is a high-quality and technically advanced 3D printing material that combines the strength of polyamide (nylon) with the stiffness and lightweight properties of carbon fibers. At 3D On Demand, we use PA-CF for professional and industrial applications where parts need to withstand extreme loads without compromising on weight. Whether it’s machine parts, jigs and fixtures, or high-performance prototypes, PA-CF delivers exceptional performance with a professional finish.
Frequently Asked Questions about PA-CF
PA-CF has a strength-to-weight ratio comparable to aluminum and is significantly stronger and stiffer than PLA, PETG, or ABS.
PA-CF remains stable up to approximately 150 °C, making it suitable for parts exposed to high temperatures.
Yes, but it requires special tools. The carbon fibers make the material hard and wear-resistant, quickly dulling standard sandpaper and drills.
We can print PA-CF parts up to a maximum size of 35 × 35 × 35 cm per piece. Larger objects can potentially be printed in multiple parts and assembled, allowing for larger designs.
Most orders are produced and shipped within 3 working days.
Applications for PA-CF
Why Choose PA-CF?
PA-CF is the choice when maximum strength, stiffness, and heat resistance are required. Some good applications include:
When should You not Choose PA-CF?
Although PA-CF offers excellent mechanical properties, it’s not always the best choice. For example, when your project involves decorative parts or prototypes where appearance is more important than strength, materials like PLA or PETG are more suitable and cheaper. Also, due to the carbon fibers, PA-CF is more difficult to post-process; sanding and drilling require special tools. Additionally, PA-CF is hygroscopic (attracts moisture), meaning parts need to be stored dry for optimal performance. For applications requiring flexibility, materials such as TPU or standard nylon are more suitable.
In short: PA-CF is ideal for high-quality technical parts that require maximum strength and stiffness, but less suitable for decorative applications, simple post-processing, or flexible parts
