When should You not Choose TPU?
Although TPU performs excellently in flexible applications, it is not always the best choice. When your project requires rigid, dimensionally stable parts, materials such as PLA, PETG, or ABS are more suitable. TPU can also be challenging for very fine details or thin wall thicknesses, because the material is flexible and therefore has more difficulty retaining sharp corners and small details. In addition, TPU is somewhat slower to print than more rigid materials.
In short: TPU is ideal for flexible and shock-resistant parts, but less suitable when rigidity, dimensional stability, or extreme detailing is required.
